Intro Workshop to Alexander Technique

  • St Andrew's Uniting Church 37 Forest Street Woodend, VIC, 3442 Australia (map)

This practical workshop briefly introduces the fundamental principles of the Technique, some traditional Alexander exercises, and practical application to everyday activities like sitting and standing — the core movements that everything else builds on.

Leave with simple tools to build awareness of habitual movement patterns and exercises to release tension. Move with more ease by learning how to work with the body’s own design, rather than against it.

The Alexander Technique is useful for:

  • Anyone who feels "tense" without knowing why

  • Desk workers dealing with neck, shoulder, or back tension

  • Performers, musicians, and public speakers wanting more ease and presence

  • People recovering from injury, or managing chronic pain or stiffness

  • Dancers, athletes, and anyone wanting better coordination and movement

The technique was created by F. M. Alexander, an Australian actor, in the early 1900s, originally developed to solve his own voice problems on stage. It has since expanded into education, and medicine. Today it's taught at performing arts and music schools, colleges, and universities around the world.

Fee: $130

No experience, flexibility, or fitness level required.
